- ATLeP has responded to the Government's Proposals for the Reform of Legal Aid in England and Wales. ATLeP considers that the proposals have not taken into account the UK's obligations under the Council of Europe Convention on Action Against Trafficking in Human Beings. ATLeP believes that access to advice and support for victims of trafficking will be adversely affected by the removal from the scope of legal aid of non-detention immigration, welfare benefits / asylum support, civil litigation, employment and applications to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority, as well as by the reduction in funding of legal aid advice provision. ...read more >
